夜行(야행 - 밤길) 조충지(晁冲之 : 생몰연대 미상)
老去功名意轉流 [노거공명의전류] 나이 들면서 공명심도 시들해져
獨騎瘦馬取長途 [독기수마취장도] 홀로 야윈 말 타고 길을 나섰네
孤村到曉猶燈火 [고촌도효유등화] 외로운 마을 새벽까지 등불이 밝으니
知有人家夜讀書 [지유인가야독서] 밤 새워 누군가 책을 읽고 있는 게군.
사람이 늙으면 생각과 행동이 시들해 진다. 일본 천황이 어제 스스로 황위(皇位)를
물러 나겠다고 발표하는 것만 보아도 나이가 들면 뒷자리로 물러나는 것이 편하다.
중국이 편찬한 "중국역대인명사전"은 중국 고대부터 청나라 말기까지 12,000명의
인물에 대한 기록을 관리하고 있는데 조충지(晁冲之)는 강서시사종파도(江西詩社
宗派圖) 25인중 일인으로 유명하다고 하나 조정의 여러차례 천거를 모두 사양하고
초야에 묻혀 지냈으니 별로 알려지지 않았고 공명(功名)에 관심이 없었을 것이다.
조정의 고관대작의 행차에는 살찐 말에 말고삐를 잡는 하인, 호송인등 여러사람이
따르지만 홀로 야윈 말(瘦馬)을 타고 다니는 초라한 자신도 옛날에는 밤새워 책을
읽었음을 회상하고 있을 것이다. 天高馬肥(천고마비), 독서의 계절이다.
